Continuing the infuriating trend towards ever-shrinking phone batteries, the iPhone 6s will have a pretty puny 1715 mAh offering, as opposed to the 1810 mAh in the iPhone 6. Apple has reassured everyone that this doesn't mean the 6s will have a shorter battery life; improved power efficiency in the new A9 processor and display will see to that. A possible reason for the decreased mAh count is the extra space taken up by the Taptic Engine, which is behind the 3D Touch technology in the iPhone 6s. Whatever the case, Apple - like many of its rivals - doesn't seem too concerned with extending battery life beyond that near-mythical one-and-a-half day point. While plenty of consumers are screaming out for bigger batteries at the expense of phone thinness, fat batts just aren't as marketable as a super-svelte chassis or an ultra-powerful processor. Hopefully by the time the iPhone 7 comes round there'll have been a shift in the industry's attitude in this area.
