8 Eerie Final Interviews Dead Celebs Gave
2. John Lennon
In the days and weeks leading up to John Lennon's death, the former Beatle had plenty of semi-prophetic words of wisdom to offer the world. "You know, give peace a chance...not shoot people for peace," he told a Rolling Stone reported three days before Mark David Chapman killed him.
But it was the final interview, conducted with Dave Sholin of San Francisco's RKO Radio, that was most peppered with oddly prescient quotes.
After Lennon describes his typical day, which involves trying to keep his son, Sean, on an even keel by maintaining a predictable schedule, he speaks at length about how he's happier than he's ever been. His son has given him "more reason to stay healthy and bright."
Then he condemns the media in their reluctance to praise an artist until they've already passed on:
“What they want is dead heroes, like Sid Vicious and James Dean. I’m not interesting in being a dead f*cking hero . . . So forget ’em, forget ’em.”
Lennon continued to impress the fact that he'd like to remain alive for a very long time, as if something were nagging him about it.
"I consider that my work won’t be finished until I’m dead and buried, and I hope that’s a long, long time."
