8 Fast Food Sandwiches That Were Likely Created On A Dare

5. Grilled Cheese...Burger Melt

People like grilled cheese sandwiches, and people like hamburgers. If they want to combine the two, they should order a cheeseburger. It's a pretty simple way to get the best of both worlds and was discovered before electricity, so there must be something to it. But Friendly's didn't think the traditional combo was good enough for their customers, who deserved to have so much more bread on their sandwich. (Because that's what customers always complain about at fast food restaurants...not enough bread.) They "remedied" the situation by putting a hamburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches acting as the buns, because they forgot that a Patty Melt not only exists, but does a much more efficient job of solving the problem. Imagine trying to fit all of that into your mouth at once. It's taller than a triple cheeseburger. The act of consuming a Grilled Cheeseburger Melt involves a whole lot of smooshing, or at the very least, the removal of one of the sandwich-within-a-sandwiches.
