8 Incredibly Strange Religions From Around The World
7. The Prince Philip Movement
Coming from a nearby island, people of the village Yaohnanen worship Prince Philip (yes that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and husband to Queen Elizabeth II) as a god. The origins of the cult are a bit foggy, but the cult itself dates back to before Prince Philip visited the island in 1974. This trip only strengthened the cult as they had an opportunity to observe the Prince for the first time. The origins are theorized to be due to interactions with the British colonists on the island in the years prior to the Prince's visit. The villagers were exposed to the Christian belief that one day a messiah would return to the world, and also the great respect that the British had for Prince Philip. At some point, the two ideas were tied together. The Prince has since been made aware of the religion, and has sent several autographed photos to the island. The natives, having learned the Prince's birthday, hold a celebration for it every year.
I'm very proudly a nerd, which is the quality you'll see most on display here. Star Wars, Doctor Who, and Spider-man are my biggest nerdy obsessions, but I don't like to exclude anything.
I'm also an avid sports fan. My teams are the Detroit Red Wings, Notre Dame, and Detroit Lions. I love playing and watching hockey, but don't get to do the former often enough.
I play some guitar, and love music. That's me, concisely speaking.
