9 Animals With Creepy As F*** Horror Movie Powers

4. The Lyrebird Steals Your Voice

Storytime: You're upstairs when you hear your mum calling you from the kitchen. As you make your way downstairs, something grabs your arm and pulls you back. It's your mum. "Don't go," she says, "I heard it too."

There's something freaky about a thing that can steal your voice. Granted it's probably slightly less scary when you eventually go down into the kitchen to discover a plump, pheasant-sized Lyrebird in there, but its talent for mimicry is still pretty unnerving.

No one really knows why or how Lyrebirds copy the sounds around them, but they have been known to imitate everything from car alarms to children's laughter (the creepiest of all the laughter).

Whilst the jury is still out on whether that famous David Attenborough footage of a "wild" Lyrebird imitating a chainsaw is strictly genuine (it was definitely making the noise, but it was more likely bred in captivity), I would still like you to watch the video above and tell me that these are not possessed by the actual f*cking devil.
