Ahh zombies. Everybody loves a good zombie movie and everyone with a brain in their head has got a zombie apocalypse survival strategy (share yours in the comments, sharing is caring.)

Everybody also knows that the best way to stop a zombie is by removing the head or destroying the brain, right? Wrong.

Well, so long as that zombie is a snake because, thanks to the wonders of youtube, it has become abundantly clear that snakes can survive their own decapitation and, what's more, they'll still try to attack you. Don't believe me? Here's a video of a headless snake biting itself on the butt for your enjoyment.

How does it do this? Well snakes generally function on instinct at the best of times, and most of their reactions are reflexes. When the head is severed from the body, the infrared sensors that is uses to detect threats are still firing, and when they detect the threat (i.e. you, bending close to check if it's dead), it flips into action and bites.
