9 Biggest Killers In Space

1. The Big Rip

What is it? I mentioned in a previous item that heat dissipates from a vehicles breaks as a loss in entropy. Here is a question that can help the understanding of this concept from a critical thinking point of view. Why does heat rise? For that matter, what force is pushing the heat against gravity? Similarly to heat escaping the gravity of the sun in light and reaching us here on Earth. While it's not actually Dark Energy pushing on the heat, it's a constant negative pressure against the acceleration of the expansion of the universe. This measurement is called the Friedmann-LemaƮtre-Robertson-Walker Metric. To some degree, the most basic answer to this is actually Dark Energy. Dark Energy is roughly 68.3% of all the matter in the universe. 4.9% is actually observable matter as we know it, and the remaining 26.8% is Dark Matter. Dark Energy is accelerating the expansion of the universe further and further into infinity. However, there is a finite period of time where the 4.9% of matter will essentially be torn apart into it's elementary particles. This is in essence, The Big Rip. Is this common? Can I hide under a table to survive? Dark Energy is ever present, considered to be homogeneous throughout the universe, and is seemingly exerting a force causing its expansion. Consider for a moment that the ocean is Dark Energy, the salt in the ocean is Dark Matter, now I'm going to pour 100 gallons of Milk into the ocean. Over time, the milk would be completely invisible and almost non-existent across the entire ocean. This is similar (in an extremely simplistic explanation) in terms of what is happening in our universe. Has this happened before? Can it happen again? Depending if physicists ever agree on the concept of bubble or pinched universes among other bubble universes; it's possible that the theory of the big rip is something that has occurred many times over, across an infinite ocean of multi-verses. For us, its simply the inevitable end. Another factor in "The End of time" concept where everything ceases to be. Until then, we've got time, and generally speaking, most of this list will be waiting in line to kill us before the big rip happens... This article was intended to be as layman as possible when discussing complex concepts and theories in physics. I hope you enjoyed reading about possible ways the universe will destroy us in the distant future. I hope it inspires you to research some of the theories and concepts mentioned to gain a deeper knowledge of our universe. I'm a writer, a published author, and editor for a small independent publishing house. I'm an award winning producer of independent media, and I get to edit books, screenplays, and comics in my day to day. I love working on independent film & games, during my down time, as well as reviewing films while gobbling down milk duds (it's an addiction, I know). I've been called "Geek-Prime" among my peers for all the fandoms I work in, and I wear that title proudly. It's a passion, and an exercise in my growing profession, to get to write about what I love. Which happens to be a little of everything. But mostly film, comics, horror, games, anime, literature, and life. I do write about academic material, like politics, medicine, physics, and mathematics too. But for the most part, I like to keep things down to earth and simple. Follow me on Twitter & Facebook
