6. Edison Square

Lightning – what's more awesome than that? Edison Square was designed by Walt Disney in the 1950s, and was to be a part of Main Street USA. The square was going to depict a 1920s suburb complete with a huge statue of Thomas Edison, the America inventor credited with pioneering the long-lasting, practical electric light bulb (among other incredible things).

Edison Square was to feature an attraction titled Harnessing The Lightning, which was to detail an extensive history of electricity, from its discovery to its deeper understanding and practical applications, as well as the overall effect it has had on business, family and the world at large.

Ultimately, Edison Square never happened and Harnessing The Lightning was changed to the Carousel Of Progress. As famous as that ride is, an attraction and whole area dedicated to the fascinating power of electricity and more specifically the history of its discovery would have been extremely interesting.
