9 Fascinating Disney Attractions You Didn't Know Were Almost Built
5. Mt. Fuji The Ride
Another attraction originally planned for Epcot but which sadly never saw the light of day was a roller coaster based on Mt. Fuji, the iconic mountain from Japan. Obviously, the Mt. Fuji ride was to be housed in the Japan section of the Epcot World Showcase, and it was to completely transform the look of the entire area.
The plan was for an absolutely massive recreation of Mt. Fuji to be built behind the traditional pagoda which already exists. Within this mountain was to be Epcot's first ever roller coaster, an exciting coaster which raced in and out of the mountain, winding up and down and showing off various Japanese artefacts.
The reason for its cancellation is also rather unique. The film company Kodak was a major Disney sponsor, and they weren't pleased with such a prominent ride being named after their competitive rival Fujifilm. Disney didn't want to risk losing sponsorship, and so the concept was scrapped.
