The hallucinations can involved vision "zooming in" on subjects, writing appearing to leap off the page, objects becoming so massive as to take up the entire field of vision, and a "rushing" sensation.

It is thought to have something to do with the over-stimulation of the parts of the brain that deals with colours, textures, size and shape.
