9 Ways Science Is Changing The Future Of Warfare

3. Quantum Computing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhHMJCUmq28 Warfare is all about intelligence and security. Modern encryption is now so advanced that it is possible to make anything pretty much uncrackable. As advanced and powerful as computers are these days, there is an upper limit on the amount of calculations they can perform in a certain time period. Cracking a heavily encrypted file would simply take too long to be feasible, or practical. This is a problem if you are trying to build up a picture of the enemy before sending human lives into battle. However, quantum computing kicks everything up a notch using a principle known as "quantum superposition", allowing them to perform incredible numbers of calculations at breathtaking speeds. Theoretically speaking, a quantum computer might render any code breakable. Of course, this then presents us with a problem if the other side also has access to this technology, creating a quantum computing arms race.
