9 Weirdest Alien Worlds We've Already Found
1. The Earth
Despite being located in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy, the Earth appears to be wholly remarkable.
As far as we know there is nothing else like it.
It has an oxygen rich atmosphere and liquid water on its surface. Roaming its surface are a wide variety of seemingly autonomous anomalies made of meat and vegetables. Some of these swim in the liquid water, some remain on the rocky surface and many of these meat objects eat the other meat and vegetable objects. Some of them have even made some of the planet’s surface totally unrecognisable in the quest for Ikea furniture and the perfect takeaway pizza.
As far as we know, the Earth is the only place in the entirety of time and space that has ever hosted life. The only one in the infinite universe (well, maybe not, but as far as we know).
We have managed to study this planet at close quarters for a great number of years and still don’t know everything about how it functions. Large parts of it remains a total mystery to us, perhaps because we spend so much of our time squinting through telescopes at weird and wonderful exoplanets.
