Are Humans Inherently Evil?

4. Yes: Bullying

Take even the quickest look at the comment section in almost any corner of the internet, and you will likely see a torrent of the foulest, nastiest, often unprovoked, abuse known to man.

Bullying has always been a somewhat accepted part of life, whether it's in the playground or the workplace, it's almost expected that there will be at least one bully in the pack.

But with the advent of anonymous online commenting, the sheer extent of humans' nasty, bullying nature has been thrust into the limelight.

Similar in principle to the "humans will commit atrocities if they know they won't be punished" thing, the anonymous nature of the internet has allowed a consequence-free environment in which we can give our nastiest, unfiltered thoughts and opinions free reign.

It's incredible what we'll do when we think no one is watching. The odd times when online bullies and trolls have been held accountable, many of them turn out to be nice "normal" people who actually have no idea why they thought it would be okay to tell a stranger on the internet to go kill themselves.

Anonymity removes the social restraints that we have imposed on ourselves and allows true human nature to shine through in all its hate-filled glory.
