Every Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights House 2019 - Ranked

8. Stranger Things

Universal Orlando

As much as I liked this year's Stranger Things maze, I struggle to rank it any higher than 8th.

One thing that can't be underestimated is just how amazing this maze looks. The sets within the house are absolutely beautiful and crammed with mind-blowing detail. Dustin's bedroom and Dart are incredibly cool. I loved going through Hopper's cabin and walking down the school bus.

I didn't expect to be overly scared in this maze, last year's Season One creation was tame and yet was beyond excellent. The main issue is that Season Two/Three is the lack of tangible villain. Last year we were stalked by the Demogorgan, but this year's maze didn't quite have the same suspense.

I'd have loved to see more of Billy in the Season Three areas, he really is the star of that series, and would have made for a great villain alongside the Mind Flayer.

We were warned that this maze would feature the biggest scare ever created and I wasn't disappointed. In the Starcourt Mall we face the Mind Flayer in its final form, and it is HUGE! I marvelled at how they managed to construct it and get it to look so real.

It's hard not to compare this year's offerings to HHN28. Last year's was pretty perfect so it was always going to be a tough act to follow. Perhaps if I hadn't experienced it, this year would have ranked significantly higher on my list.

If you are a fan of the series, this maze is an ABSOLUTE must. You're going to love going into Hawkin's, Indiana.

Final score: 7.6/10
