Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 30: 10 Things We'd Love To See

10. American Horror Story Cult, Apocalypse & 1984

After taking a break from American Horror Story, we'd love to see the return of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's hit tv series.

As with HHN26 and 27, we think the most recent three seasons would work well together in an anthology house. They are all visually stunning in their own unique ways and have themes that would fit perfectly into a house.

Cult was a series that openly advertised itself as focusing on phobias. The posters were a Trypophobia sufferer nightmare with holes galore in all its advertising, the clown heads were incredibly unnerving and there's also a return of (albeit short) Twisty the Clown from Freak Show.

Apocalypse was a wonderful mixture of Murder House and Coven, yet still brought something new to the table. The main issue with Apocalypse is the lack of absolute stand out moments. Having not seen the series in over a year I struggle to remember more than a couple of defining moments, however the characters are all those fans of the show know well. I'd be happy to rediscover the series in a HHN house.

1984 is the perfect IP for Halloween Horror Nights. It's an ode to 80's slasher with an AHS supernatural element thrown in. The only issue I foresee with 1984 is the use of serial killer Richard Ramirez. Despite the character becoming more fictionalised for the series, would Universal want to be open to the criticism of potentially being seen to promote a real murderer?

The main reason why we might not get a AHS house is that Cult has quite controversial subject matter. Cult had strong political elements and took a look at the "cult of personality". In the past Universal wasn't shy to include a little political controversy but in recent years have definitely moved away from this. The show could probably be easily adapted without mentioning the current political climate but given that a whole episode is dedicated to a shooting at a political rally, it's hard to ignore politics element completely.

Having Cult with Apocalypse and 1984 will likely help dilute some of the controversy that might come out of it. Fingers crossed we see the return of AHS.
