10 Biggest 'One Season Wonders' In The Premier League
8. Amr Zaki
10 - Wigan Athletic’s new signing Amr Zaki scored 10 goals in 16 games before the turn of the year, entering 2009 as the third top scorer in 2008-09; the Egyptian never scored another Premier League goal, playing 19 games more in total. Nosedive. #OptaPLSeasons pic.twitter.com/19n3OR8BzC

Long before a certain Mohamed Salah came along, there was another Egyptian striker who whipped up a frenzy, just that Amr Zaki couldn't keep up the form and vanished from the scene in no time.
Wigan Athletic signed him on loan in 2008 and Zaki went hell for leather... until matchday 20. He struck 10 times by then and was also the third highest scorer, but inexplicably ran out of steam thereafter and drew a blank for the remainder of the season.
Zaki's acrimonious fall-out with manager Steve Bruce towards the end of that season also proved to be the last straw as he briefly returned to his motherland before marking his comeback to the Premier League with Hull City, where he was disastrous once again.
What's interesting to note is that in the last five years of his professional career after the unceremonious exit from Wigan, Zaki scored... just thrice!
