Newcastle United appeared to have unearthed the next 'Demba Ba' when they signed Papiss Cisse in January 2012 and the Senegalese striker netted 13 times from 14 games, including a now notorious peach against Chelsea.

Everyone was quick to jump the gun and touted him to forge fearsome strike partnership with his compatriot too in the next season. However, his stellar run proved too big for his own britches as Cisse flattered to deceive in his first full season after he accrued only eight goals.

He showed promise of resurgence once again after a couple of years, but never established himself amongst the elite strikers.

After taking a detour in the Chinese Super League, he returned to Europe with Turkish side Alanyaspor where Cisse is firing at all cylinders once again.
