10 Managers Who Could Save Newcastle United

2. Sami Hyypia

The argument against the former Liverpool defender goes something along the lines of "are you insane? He was sacked by Leverkusen, and is currently at Brighton, with a win rate of just 36%" and while it's true he is currently pleading for patience, that doesn't mean he is not a hugely talented coach. At Leverkusen, Hyypia guided the team to third and fourth in the Bundesliga, and it was only after the fourth place finish that he was rather rashly sacked. A run of just one win in 12 games had forced the board's hands, but the side remained fourth thanks to impressive early season form under Hyypia's system. The Finnish legend would definitely be a gamble, but Leverkusen even conceded that he was a positive influence on the club as they fired him:
"What he and his coaching staff managed to get out of our team in the first half of the season far exceeded our expectations and earned him widespread praise."
