10 Managers Who Could Save Newcastle United

1. Frank De Boer

The 44-year-old coaching heavyweight already has an impressive CV, having worked with Bert van Marwijk on Holland€™s 2010 World Cup campaign, and taking over from Martin Jol at Ajax in the same year. He started out coaching the youth set up at Ajax, and when handed the reigns as caretaker manager after Jol resigned, he has seen his reputation grow massively thanks to a win ratio of 65%. Such was his growing profile that he was approached to manage Liverpool before Brendan Rodgers was appointed, though he turned it down to remain at Ajax. De Boer was also one of the fore-runners for the Spurs job this summer, and interestingly when questioned about the opportunity he came out with the following, unprompted:
€œI see opportunities at Tottenham Hotspur, just as Liverpool and Newcastle, they are sleeping giants.€
So having been offered Liverpool and spoken to Tottenham, that leaves just one. Hopefully Mike Ashley will see the ambition in De Boer and offer him the chance to wake the club up. Which of these managers would you most like to see at Newcastle? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
