10 Players Who Didn't Fulfil Their Potential At Arsenal

2. Gervinho

Signed the season after Chamakh, Gervinho was the latest in a long line of players that Arsene Wenger signed following success in the French Ligue 1. Also an already established international for the Ivory Coast, Gervinho arrived at the club on a wave of relative optimism. After a pre-season where he impressed Gunners fans - one sumptuous lob finish was particularly exciting - Gervinho struggled to cope in the Premier League. Poor discipline leading to a red card in his first game aside, Gervinho just never seemed to have the temperament to play in England. Sloppy passing and finishing was the result of poor decision making from the Ivorian. Despite making himself a regular feature in the Gunners' starting line-up for two seasons, he never really managed to offer positive impact in more than fleeting glances. Now playing his football in Italy with Roma, Gervinho has enjoyed a fair upturn in form and was even one of the few players who could take any pride from the Ivory Coast's disappointing World Cup run in Brazil. The promise he showed in pre-season for Arsenal was woefully unrepeated in two seasons.
