10 Players Who Didn't Fulfil Their Potential At Arsenal

10. Nicklas Bendtner

Confidence can be a marvellous thing for a footballer. How many times have pundits and journalists commented on the poor form of a particular player and asserted that he looks "short of confidence" on the pitch? Confidence in one's own ability can truly play a massive role in how successful a player can be. Overconfidence can be a somewhat disastrous thing for a player, however, especially if it is unfounded and not really being backed up on the pitch. Nicklas Bendtner is a shining example of an overconfident footballer, and it really has formed a large part of his undoing. Quoted on numerous occasions about his own ability, Bendtner has always been very quick to talk himself up off the pitch. The problem is that, despite chiming in with one or two important goals for Arsenal over his nine years, he has never been enough of a threat when tasked with leading the line for the Gunners. Bendtner's confidence in himself has elevated him to the status of a cult hero in the last year, however his poor performances on the pitch have seen him fall drastically short of his self-appointed high billing.
