10 Players Newcastle Should Never Have Sold In The Premier League Era

10. Scott Parker

Although not the most fashionable of midfielders to pull on a Newcastle shirt in recent times Parker is remembered fondly for his determined fighting spirit and willingness to put his body on the line for the club in his two seasons at St James'. Never one to shirk responsibility and a driving presence in midfield it was no surprise when Glenn Roeder chose him to take up the captaincy from Alan Shearer for the 2006/07 campaign. An outstanding performance against Arsenal 2005 exemplified his mentality, refusing to be substituted after suffering damage to his teeth in a collision with Jens Lehmann and returned to field after treatment clutching cotton wool between his jaws before eventually having to crawl off after taking one hit too many from the Gunners.
