If Ben Arfa cant make the Newcastle team, then one wouldnt hold out much hope for his copycat mini-me version. Marveaux has been ravaged by injuries throughout his career, so much so that it spurned a transfer to Liverpool shortly before Pardew jumped at the chance to ensnare him (though the truth in that story is up for debate, depending on who you ask). However, with the likes of Ben Arfa and Marveaux adverse to tracking back like Moussa Sissoko, Alan Pardew clearly doesnt trust them. First and foremost you have to show on the training ground that you are worthy of playing in this team or getting in this group. We havent really seen Sammy get a chance either in this recent run and he deserves a chance as much as Sylvain. There are still three or four players who can emerge and come forward. I have never, ever isolated anyone at this football club. And I never will so everyone has a chance. - Alan Pardew. The flair and ingenuity which lit up the Newcastle side in 2012, when their 4-3-3 system shot them to an unprecedented fifth has been largely abandoned, in favour of a more conservative 4-5-1. Marveaux featured a total of eleven times last season in all competitions, and may seriously think about moving on, if he is to have a chance of turning his fledgling career around.
