I spent two good years at Old Trafford but it was a bit difficult with the competition. I really needed a club where I could play more games. I know it won't be easy to play each game here, because there's a good group, but I want a fresh start in my football. Perhaps its because Alan Shearer spurned them on two separate occasions, but Manchester United have a good record of shafting a vast amount of deadwood on their old foes from the North-East. Obertan signed for the Magpies in 2011 as a direct replacement for Wayne Routledge, and judging by the above quotes, Obertan was surely ready to use the club as the perfect foil to get his once-promising career back on track. What has happened since has been nothing short of disastrous. The man who was once dubbed an exciting prospect by Sir Alex Ferguson is currently languishing in the Newcastle reserves, having amassed a paltry three league appearances last term. For his own sake, Obertan needs to write off the last five years as a bad experience, and get out of England as soon as possible.
