Paulinho is the one player of the seven who were brought in using the Gareth Bale money that Spurs should have already given up on. At 26 and yet to show more than a glimmer of usefulness on the pitch for Spurs, the club should have cashed in during the summer of 2014 when he was linked - remarkably - with the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid. In 43 competitive appearances for the club in all competitions, he has scored eight times. Having been touted as Spurs' Frank Lampard, this is disappointing - and it's not as though his other contributions have been anything to shout about. The rest of Spurs' new signings have shown enough to prove they are worth giving more time - or they are young enough to still have time to improve. With regards to Paulinho, it's simply obvious that he isn't consistently good enough for top level football - as proven with his awful performances for Brazil at the 2014 World Cup.
