10 Problems Only Spurs Fans Will Understand

5. Being Too Big To Be A Feeder Club

Spurs are a club who should be buying big players, not turning players in to big players and selling them on to bigger clubs - but the latter is exactly what has been happening in recent years. With Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov both heading to Manchester United and Luka Modric and Gareth Bale both heading to Real Madrid, the White Hart Lane side are getting a bit of a reputation for being a feeder club - especially since they supposedly have an official commercial affiliation with Real Madrid (one which so far just seems to involve Real Madrid getting Spurs' best players whenever they want them). Spurs have some pretty big players themselves - Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Paulinho, Christian Eriksen, Roberto Soldado et al - and they should be looking to add even better ones. This pre-season, the signs are encouraging, with Hugo Lloris - arguably the club's very best player - signing a new five year contract and a host of big names linked. Only success in the form of trophies will keep those players happy and that's what Spurs fans will be hoping for in order to lose the "feeder club" tag.
