10 Reasons Sunderland Shouldn't Fear Man United

6. It's The First Home Game Since The Great Escape

Every single Sunderland fan looks at the fixture list in the following order: when do we play Newcastle home and away, who have we got on Boxing Day, who is our last away game and who do we play at home first? Luckily for all involved the Black Cats managed to draw Manchester United on a bank holiday weekend and it's hard to imagine playing them at a better time. They lack real squad strength, organisation and ultimately any creativity with key players missing the game through injuries. The atmosphere will be incredible with an expected sell out from both teams and the home faithful really have to count their lucky stars as this opening game could have easily been against Bournemouth City or Derby County (no offence). If the players come out and give the fans a great performance then the support will be the 12th man and if we grab an early goal it will be something to really enjoy, especially with it also being on Sky for Super Sunday for the rest of the world to see how loud we can be when we play the big guns of the top flight. If you haven't got your ticket yet then there really isn't a bigger way to kick off another home campaign and no excuse not to come along and enjoy the game.
