10 Strangest Ever Chelsea Signings

3. Romelu Lukaku

Media Image LtdMedia Image LtdRomelu Lukaku's transfer to Chelsea in 2011 remains one of the strangest ones in the club's recent history, primarily because it seems as though the Blues can't decide whether they want him or not. Lukaku moved from Anderlecht in 2011 but has to date only made 10 appearances for the club. That's despite the fact he has been lighting up the Premier League at West Brom and Everton, scoring 17 and 15 league goals during his time on loan at the two sides, respectively. The young Belgian has been on loan from Chelsea in each of the last two seasons which is especially baffling when you consider his parent club's dire need of a top class striker. Lukaku scored only four goals fewer than Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba combined last term, yet his career with the Londoners remains unclear. Should the Blues reach the decision they no longer need the starlet, they may well come to regret it in the future.
