10 Strangest Ever Chelsea Signings

4. Deco

Neal Simpson/EMPICS SportNeal Simpson/EMPICS SportFollowing highly-successful stints at Porto and Barcelona, Deco surprisingly ended up at Chelsea very much in the winter of his career in 2008. Luiz Felipe Scolari signed the then-30-year-old from the Catalans but following the Brazilian manager's dismissal from the club in 2009, things quickly turned sour for Deco. After just a season at Chelsea, Deco became disillusioned with life at the Londoners and announced he wanted to quit, though later retracted these comments and somewhat begrudgingly stayed on for an extra 12 months. The attacking midfielder only scored five goals for the Blues in 43 appearances and, while his signing might have been a brilliant one five years earlier, it seemed odd when he made the switch to London in 2008 very much a shadow of his former self with his best days behind him.
