10 Strangest Ever Spurs Signings

9. Andy Booth

Neal Simpson/EMPICS SportNeal Simpson/EMPICS SportIn 2001, the Tottenham Hotspur squad boasted strikers Sergei Rebrov, Chris Armstrong, Les Ferdinand and Steffen Iversen amongst its players, so why the hell they needed to bring 27 year old Andy Booth in on loan is anybody's guess. Booth played for Sheffield Wednesday at the time and the Owls had just been been relegated to the second tier of English football in the previous season - and Booth was even struggling for a first team place at Hillsborough in that division. Rather predictably, in his time at White Hart Lane, Booth made little impact. He made a total of four appearances, scoring zero goals and having little to no impression on any of the games he played in. He was soon sent back to Sheffield, where he would continue to make little impact on the field, before moving back to his first club Huddersfield Town and ending up playing in the bottom two divisions of England's professional football pyramid.
