10 Talented Newcastle Players Who Were Well And Truly Pardewed

1. Papiss Cisse

Yes, he has scored four goals this season, but the tragedy of Papiss Cisse is that he doesn't even realise that Alan Pardew is the reason he has struggled to score goals since his incredible break-out half-season. When he came in, he was a bundle of raw energy, instinctive and arrogant enough to try shots like the one that went in against Chelsea. He would shoot first and think later, and wouldn't worry about playing on the shoulder of defenders as his instincts would work him into goal-scoring positions. That's why he exploded onto the English scene with a raft of goals. But then Pardew had a whole pre-season with him, and thanks to the grumbles of Demba Ba changed his system to accommodate the grumpy scorer. He also seemingly taught Cisse to forget about instinct, and to try and be a fox in the box style finisher, rather than a roaming striker, because he needed discipline to accommodate both Cisse and Ba. That compromised Cisse's style and spirit, and made him embarrassingly prone to offsides, and his confidence suffered so much that he has never quite recaptured the form of that first half season again.
