A World Cup winner with France in '98, Stephane Guivarc'h from Auxerre had all the makings of a quality signing. Successful everywhere he'd been, the Frenchman was recruited by Kenny Dalglish to partner Alan Shearer for the '98/99 season. Unfortunately for Guivarc'h, Ruud Gullit took over the reins at St James' Park and took a particular disliking to the forward. Only four games and a lonesome goal later, Guivarc'h was shipped north of the border to Rangers. Whether the player or Gullit is to blame, this is certainly a talented player who failed to make an impact at Newcastle. Things hit a new low in 2009, when the striker was voted whether fairly or not as the worst in Premier League history by The Daily Mail.
