10 Talented Players Who Failed At Newcastle

1. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa

Any player who captains French side Montpellier to the Ligue 1 title aged 22 surely must have talent. The central defender, a French international, struggled for form during his 37 appearances (so far) for the Toon, mainly due to being deployed out of position by manager Alan Pardew. The physically-impressive defender has since been loaned out to Champions League participants and Serie A title-chasers Roma, who have made him a regular starter at the back. At £8.5 million, Newcastle spent a lot of money on Yanga-Mbiwa, and much was expected of him. After being kept out of the team by players like Mike Williamson and Steven Taylor though, you can hazard a guess at where the blame should lie. The Frenchman's failure is not a reflection of the player, but instead with the club's management. Which other talented flops deserve to be on this list?
