11 People Who Probably Most Hated Alan Shearer

8. Freddy Shepherd - "Mary Poppins"

It is possibly unfair to say that the man who helped sanction the world record £15m move for Shearer in the '90s could hate him as much as Craig Bellamy did, but the director let his real feelings show during the Toongate Tape scandal that saw him filmed undercover criticising Newcastle fans, Geordie women and Alan Shearer. Shearer clearly wasn't Freddy's type of man, inviting accusations that he was "boring" and the infamous "Mary Poppins" nickname that has stuck with the Geordie legend - particularly with Sunderland fans. Perhaps it was because Alan didn't like brothels - the setting where Freddy has caught on tape - or perhaps it was that he didn't like to socialise with men who took £50m out of the club and pretended to be every Newcastle fan's best friend while emptying their pockets?
