11 Players Who Stole A Living From Manchester United
3. Ralph Milne
Though largely unheard of, Ralph Milne has been heralded by Sir Alex Ferguson himself as his 'worst ever signing' even though he only cost the Old Trafford club £170,000. Playing as a winger, Milne showed great skill on the pitch for Dundee United, Charlton and Bristol City to earn himself a move to Manchester, at a time most would associate with the peak years of a footballer's career. However, Milne was criticised for having the necessary talent on the pitch but having the wrong attitude off it, instead preferring to live the party lifestyle to such an extent that it completely ruined his career with the Red Devils. A lavish life of money, women and gambling took precedence for Milne over becoming the best he could be at his profession, which is quite unfortunate given the talent he displayed on the pitch in his best years. His place in the team was eventually taken over by Lee Sharpe whilst he was shipped out on loan to West Ham, with Ferguson realising his best days were actually behind him.
