11 Players Who Stole A Living From Manchester United
4. Juan Sebastian Veron
So maybe Juan Sebastian Veron is unfairly put in on this list given he was actually a top class player in his heyday, but he really didn't enjoy his greatest years at Old Trafford. Perhaps his finest moment came in United's unreal 5-3 turnaround against Tottenham at White Hart Lane, but having been brought in for an at the time British transfer record of £28.1 million in 2001, United fans and Premier League fans in general would have hoped Veron could have gone down as a great. It didn't really help that United didn't play to Veron's strengths, at the time sticking with their rigid 4-4-2 which had worked wonders for them before. Veron found it difficult to fit in to the system, whilst fellow summer signing Ruud van Nistelrooy flourished. Veron showed flashes of brilliance but the size of the transfer fee alone has to put Veron in this list. He was an expensive mistake for that time.
