Robbie Fowler was so popular during his original run with Liverpool his nickname with the fans was 'God'. You can't get much better than that. He scored a massive 120 goals in 236 games for the club and the Anfield faithful were left scratching their heads when he was moved on to Leeds in 2001.

His return in 2006 was the stuff of fairy tales. Though he was no longer the player he had been nostalgia dictated that his return was generally seen in a positive light even though he only managed to add eight more goals to his club tally.

Fowler himself said he felt like 'a kid waking up on Christmas morning every day' during this time. He captained the team on his final appearance against Charlton Athletic on 13th May 2007 and gave a strong showing considering his residual injuries and lack of sharpness on arrival.

His second spell hadn't been perfect but few football fans would begrudge him his redemptive return.
