8. Robbie Keane

From: Spurs To: Liverpool Fee: £20.3 million (Source: ESPN) Over the past half a decade, Robbie Keane has cemented himself as among the elite of strikers on the Premier League circuit. At the zenith of his career, whilst he was playing for the likes of Tottenham and Blackburn, he was widely renowned for his immense goal scoring capabilities and his record of 82 goals in under 200 games for Spurs certainly doesn't disprove this billing. His eye-catching performances fused with his somersault celebrations, caught the interest of many high profile clubs and in 2008, European Giants Liverpool, agreed a monumental £20.3 million deal to secure the strikers services. Liverpool, who had good, perhaps misguided faith in Keane's goal scoring efficiency, hoped that his performances would catapult him into Liverpool folklore amongst the likes of other hit strikers, Robbie Fowler or Michael Owen. Sadly, this desire didn't transpire. His performances at Anfield were a bitter disappointment to fans and players alike, scoring only 5 goals for the club, in 16 appearances. In fact, they were so calamitous, that Keane barely lasted a year at Anfield, before he was dispatched back to his beloved Tottenham in February 2009. Of course this wasn't the last time that Liverpool would waste millions of pounds on a misfiring striker....
