15 Worst Ever Premier League Signings

7. Massimo Taibi

From: Venezia To: Manchester United Fee: £4.5 million (Source: WSC) The second goalkeeper on my list, and also from Manchester United, (there seems to be a running theme evolving here). Masimmo Taibi is widely considered as the worst ever goalkeeper to grace the Premier League. Taibi came over to our lands from Venezia for £4.4 million back in 1999, as a good young goalkeeping prospect. (Sound familiar?) After just one game for The Red Devils, Taibi instantaneously gained his ill-famed reputation as "The Blind Venetian," after notably flapping at a Liverpool free-kick, allowing defender Sami Hyypia to follow in and score. Even after his disastrous debut, things somehow got even worse for Taibi, as he notoriously let a tame Matt Le Tissier free kick squeeze between his legs and dribble painfully into the nest. This mishap marked the beginning of the end for Taibi's short lived Manchester United career. Clearly Ferguson recognized that he had signed goalkeeper of the handicapped variety and he quickly offloaded him to Italian club, Reggina, after less than a year at the club and with only four appearances to his name. http://youtu.be/esFAGx7RDL4
