4 Ways Aberdeen Could Actually Challenge Celtic Next Season

1. Celtic Would Need To Play Worse

As much as I would hate for this to happen, if Aberdeen are to form the other half of a two horse race for the first time since Rangers were liquidated, Celtic would have to be less consistent. This year Celtic have shown consistency reminiscent of their winning run under Martin O'Neill that helped them achieve over a century of points in 2002, so it's actually quite likely that Celtic won't be as consistent next season, especially if they commit more effort into the Champions League this time. Of course, some of you may be wondering "why Aberdeen? Surely this should apply to all of the Scottish Premiership teams?". Well, in theory it could, but Aberdeen F.C is a club with history backing it. They have a decent sized stadium and a decent following, and it all comes from Sir Alex Ferguson's brief domination of Scottish football and European glory with the Dons. They are not as small a club as many would think, and they should be looking for ways to rise up again. As a Celtic fan, I would warmly welcome this. I believe that as Celtic fans in this era, we should also all be fans of Scottish football. It's where we play, and if the foundations of which we play don't rise from where they are now, they may never rise again. A serious competitor would be fantastic for both teams. Sponsors would flock in to support the 'new' two horse race, a new healthy rivalry would be born, and Scottish football would start to have more of a 'point' to it again. It's not likely that they will finish close behind us if the manage to submit a challenge, but a little fight on the way would give our league some much needed strength, and our fans some much needed excitement through the whole season. Celtic and Aberdeen fans, do you think this scenario is possible next season or at any other time in the future? And how important do you think it is for Scottish football? As a recent university graduate and a huge supporter of Celtic FC, what better way to use my inevitable free time to write about my favourite football team? I'll cover most things that the supporters are talking about at the moment, which includes things that directly and indirectly involve the club. At times I may also stray into matters concerning English clubs.
