5 Reasons Why Chelsea Won't Win The Premier League
4. No Settled First Team
One problem with the squad Mourinho was confronted with at the start of the season was that he could not and still has not yet settled on a favourite first 11. Despite bringing in a couple of players of his own choice, namely Willian and Samuel Eto'o, as well as Andre Schurrle and Marco van Ginkel, the 50-year-old has struggled to use his team to his advantage. His constant changing of the team has had a detrimental effect on the side with the players not having time to gel under his new tactical regime. Players such as Juan Mata, the Blues best player over the last couple of seasons, has struggled to get a chance in the first team and does not have the solid sitting back tendencies that Mourinho expects from his players. With so many creative players in the side, the former Inter Milan boss has failed to settle upon a favoured three in his 4-2-3-1 system, and the players currently in the side do not have the same counter-attacking qualities that he is looking for. One vital aspect of a title winning side has always been the consistency in the team, and too many changes will unsettle a team, with players becoming frustrated at the lack of regular football, and Mourinho could end up paying for this uncharacteristic dilly-dallying when he fails to deliver the league trophy.
