Performances against the big teams in the division are vital for launching a successful Champions League campaign. It's all very well beating all the lesser sides but in order to progress you have to beat or get results against the teams around you. This season Everton have beaten Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as picking up a draw with title chasers Arsenal. They also drew with Champions League rivals Liverpool and Tottenham, while also picking up wins against impressive Newcastle and Southampton sides. In fact, the only team in the top 10 to beat Everton this season is Manchester City. There was no surprises there as City are defeating everyone at the Etihad this season. The Toffees are still yet to welcome both Manchester sides and Arsenal to the frightful Goodison Park. The concerns are that they are still to visit Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham but they are extremely capable of getting a result from all of those matches.
