2. George Best
A player who's name will forever be remembered in British, and world, football. George Best is a legend, yet another from Manchester United, but the World Cup escaped his grasp. Surrounded by legendary players and with magic in his feet at United, his Northern Ireland teammates were a different story and he couldn't drag them to the World Cup. He almost made it in 1982, when Billy Bingham considered taking him to the tournament but he never happen. George Best later said he wished he did, even if he was only thrown on for 15 minutes so that he could say 'I played at a World Cup.'
