6 Shock Revelations From Kieron Dyer's Time At Newcastle

4. Lee Bowyer Isn't Very Good At Punching

Hilariously, though he claimed that he and Bowyer had made up after their petulant on-pitch fall-out (having played together again at West Ham), Dyer clearly couldn't resist having a pop at his former team-mate: Seemingly willing to re-open old wounds with the notoriously unstable former Leeds man, Dyer said that even though it appeared to everyone watching that Dyer came off worse, he was never really hurt anyway:
€œAs he was walking towards me I just thought he was going to grab me or push me. €œWhen he was raining the punches in I thought, €˜You need to get on the weights because they aren€™t hurting.€™"
Is goading Lee Bowyer really a good idea? Clearly, the idea of him as a football hardman was always a bit of an exaggeration, but claiming he "rained" in punches and didn't hurt his intended target goes beyond ruining his image. Hopefully Dyer doesn't have to face him in a charity match any time soon. Clearly, it was a bit of a joke though, as he admitted the pair are still friends:
"I still see him now, we are friends. That€™s just the way Lee was. But I still want to beat him up.€
