6 Most Underrated Premier League Players This Season

5. Wilfred Bony (Swansea)

When Swansea splashed out a reported £13 million on Wilfred Bony in the summer, very few would have expected him to join a team outside of the top 6. Plying his trade in the Czech Republic and later Holland, the famous Swansea scouting system that has brought through talents such as Michu and Gylfi Sigurdsson seems to have struck gold again, picking up a powerful forward whose value has potential; to skyrocket with a good performance in Brazil this summer. His numbers are slightly above average, 13 goals from 31 EPL games may not put him the Suarez or Sturridge bracket, but when you consider that these have been scored often as a lone front man playing in a struggling side, the feat becomes very impressive, What adds even more weight to Bony's claim for the Underrated Player of the Season award is the fact that whilst Swansea have changed managers and style, they have also suffered a season defining injury to their focal play maker (Michu) meaning the pressure placed on the 25 year old has been even greater. Swansea seem to be pretty close to clear of relegation now, and if they do survive, they will have Bony's goals and hold up play to thank.
