6 Most Underrated Premier League Players This Season

6. David De Gea (Manchester United)

For the first time in many seasons, Manchester United haven't even looked like mounting a title challenge. A combination of disharmony in the ranks, lack of tactical direction and some very average performances have all led to a floundering season which may result in the most successful side in English football fail to qualify for European competition. Perhaps one of the biggest downfalls has been their inconsistent defensive line up, with multiple CB pairings and a real lack of leadership in the defense. It should be high praise then that their Spanish keeper makes the list for the most underrated players of 2013/14, with some terrific individual performances and a consistency his team mates have failed to achieve. Easily one of the stand out keepers of the season, only three sides have conceded fewer than United and De Gea's 11 clean sheets have been a huge part of that. Easily criticized at times in his early United career, his position in goal now looks secure, and David is a valid candidate for the Underrated Player of the Season Award
