8 Most Ridiculous Man Utd Rumours That Never Happened

7. David Beckham To Buy Man Utd

The Glazer family takeover of Manchester United in 2005 has never sat well with some sections of fans, who have pointed to the fact the Americans funded the takeover with loans secured against the club's assets, plunging the Red Devils millions of pounds into debt. In March this year, it was reported a very unlikely saviour was about to ride to United fans' rescue and rid them of the 'evil regime' - none other than David Beckham and his 'Class of 92' buddies Phil and Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. The unlikely six were linked with a £2 billion takeover of the club, part-funded by the Qatari royal family. Needless to say, this outlandish rumour never came to fruition, and Manchester United remains very much in the control of the Glazers. Much to the chagrin of some.
