8 Most Ridiculous Man Utd Rumours That Never Happened

6. Man Utd To Go Bankrupt

As a result of that takeover by the Glazer family in 2005, many feared that Manchester United would 'do a Leeds' and hit the skids. In November last year, the club's overall debt was said to have stood at a chunky £361 million, lending to fears that United would go bust, get relegated and play against Millwall a couple of times a season. To this day, however, the Red Devils continue to defy the doom mongers - and though they had a terrible season under David Moyes in 2013-14, are very much still in business. In fact, the club have just spent £60 million this summer on new players, showing that the club's hierarchy are scarcely concerned that going to the wall is any real sort of probability, and while Leeds continue to toil in the lower leagues following their dramatic (and hilarious) fall from grace, United show no signs of following in the footsteps of their Yorkshire rivals.
