8 Most Ridiculous Man Utd Rumours That Never Happened
5. Man Utd To Sell Old Trafford To Nike
Just as Arsenal renamed Highbury 'Emirates Stadium' and Newcastle ditched St James' Park for the 'Sports Direct Arena', Manchester United too have been linked with selling the naming right for their iconic stadium and adopting the name of a corporate conglomerate. The American sportswear company were linked with a multi-million pound deal to rename the legendary stadium, and though this would have seen a dramatic increase to United's coffers, furious fans would be putting up effigies of the Glazer family alongside those Steven Gerrard guys on bonfire night were it ever to happen. Fortunately, it has not happened, and here's praying it never will.
