Arsenal: Best Ever Premier League 11

Best Right-Back: Lee Dixon

When Lee Dixon joined Arsenal in 1988, Arsenal were being managed by George Graham and hadn't won the League Title for nearly 20 years. By the time he retired in 2002 after 616 games and 27 goals, Arsenal had won four League titles, and three FA Cups. Maybe Liverpool need a new right-back? (Incidentally, it might not be a bad idea for us either). Not many players can say that they have won League titles in the 80's, 90's and 00's, but Dixon can, although being as modest as he is he probably would neglect to mention it. Lee Dixon was an ever-present memeber of Arsenal's inpenetrable defensive line, but was also not afraid of going forward, displaying the flexibility and speed that any young right-back must aspire to have, even at his retirement at the age of 38. Dixon played alongside players who he has openly admitted were more skilful and talented than he was, but put simply if he could stop the ball trickling towards the net most times then the fans would be happy about that. It wasn't an entirely fault-free career, as his display in the closing minutes of the 2001 FA Cup final pertinently showed his curtain call was approaching. Now a pundit on ITV Sport, Dixon is one of the finest examples of a right-back this country has ever produced, and despite stiff competition from Lauren and Bacary Sagna, he was by far and away the most suitable pick for this position. Other contenders: Lauren, Bacary Sagna
